The Spurs will be short handed again headed into tonight’s game against the Grizzlies. Pau Gasol will return, but that will be offset by Lamarcus Aldridge resting tonight. Manu Ginobili will also sit again.
Gasol becomes a target with the usage he will have tonight. His brother presents a tough matchup but this should be a cool game for them.
The Spurs will also need to continue to rely on other players for more offense than usual. Dejounte Murray got 15 shots up last night and is too cheap again. Davis Bertans steps into heavy minutes and double digit shots again and remains a great value. And Kyle Anderson, Danny Green, Patty Mills and Tony Parker will have a greener light than usual.
We missed pretty hard on saying Joffrey Lauvergne would play 20+ minutes last night as the Spurs were completely willing to play Aldridge 41 minutes at center and play small at power forward. Lauvergne tracked only 12 minutes and contributed an uninspiring 4-3 line, but he could be worth a punt tonight given that Gasol won’t play 41 minutes like Aldridge did.
Grizzlies-Spurs features the two slowest teams in the league facing off. Memphis will be even slower if Tyreke Evans sits tonight as well. This game should feature solid value but we won’t target the Spurs as hard as we did against the Cavs last night.
